Position / Placement: Habitat For Humanity Red Deer ReStore - Assistant Manager

Duties & Responsibilities The Assistant ReStore Manager will assist in overseeing the retail operations of the Habitat for Humanity Red Deer ReStore. This full-time position (based on 37.5 hrs/week) is accountable to the ReStore Manager and the CEO.  The Assistant ReStore Manager is responsible for supporting the successful day-to day operation of the ReStore on behalf of the affiliate. The successful candidate will be reliable, personable, have excellent prioritizing and problem-solving skills, and possess a successful track record in supervising staff teams.

The ideal candidate must be committed to the Habitat mission and passionate about making a difference for families in need. The individual must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an affinity to work with a variety of people from all walks of life. This position requires an individual who can work well within a team and independently with minimal supervision. As this is a multi-faceted role dealing with multiple stakeholders, candidates must demonstrate exceptional time management skills, self-motivation and professionalism in all aspects of the role.

Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities and related expectations of the Assistant ReStore Manager fall into five (5) key areas:

Retail & Financial Management:
•Assist in ensuring cashier duties are being performed correctly and assist in training staff members on all aspects of cashier duties
•Assist and collect information required for managerial tracking records
•Take lead role in ensuring all product donations are recorded accurately
•Assist in recording and tracking of tax receipt information of corporate donors both locally and at the national level

Customer & Donor Relations:
•Develop positive relationships with multiple donors and customers
•Provide excellent customer service, serving as a role model to other staff 
•Respond positively and proactively to customer inquiries and needs
•Ensure that all staff and volunteers adhere to customer service standards

Supervision & Leadership:
•Provide support to guide, coach and train store staff and volunteers
•Assist with staff and volunteer supervision, either directly or through delegation
•Assist in annual performance reviews of hourly ReStore staff
•Work closely with ReStore manager to identify staff training and skill development opportunities to address knowledge gaps

Products & Merchandising:
•Determine the suitability and acceptance of donated products
•Assist in gathering information for reporting & tracking systems for donated products
•Ensure adherence to pricing and sales policies
•Oversee pickup and delivery schedules of product donations
•Assist in developing attractive and creative product display and merchandising approaches

Safety & Standards:
•Adhere to applicable provincial and organizational legislation included OHS policy
•Ensure staff compliance with HFHRD’s Health & Safety manual & specific ReStore policies
•Assist in conducting regular safety meetings with all ReStore staff & volunteers
•Assist in completing all incident & near miss reports accurately and on a timely basis
Education/Work Experience Required Required Qualifications
•Minimum 2-years of retail and supervisory experience
•Completion of high school diploma; related post-secondary training an asset 
•Strong knowledge of building materials and construction
•Possess a valid Class 5 Operator’s license, fork lift and first aid certification
•Must be able to work Saturdays
•Be physically fit and able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs

Compensation/Benefits Salary will be determined based on skills and experience.
