Position / Placement: Regional Program Coordinator

Regional Coordinator, Central Alberta Region

Ability to work from a home office location in the Central Alberta region. (Red Deer, Ponoka, RMH, Rimbey, Bentley, Sylvan Lake, Caroline, Penhold, Innisfail, Olds, Bowden, Sundre, Didsbury, Delburne, Alix, Mirror, Bashaw, Lacombe, Leslieville, Eckville.)

JA Southern Alberta is dedicated to educating and inspiring young Albertans to succeed in a global economy, and offers in-school and after-school programs in the areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. JA works in partnership with educators, volunteers and businesses to help youth increase their potential, engage in their own economic development, and contribute to the strength of their community and Canada’s economy.

General Accountability

The Regional Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordination of programs, local fundraising efforts and associated functions within their specified region. This role reports to the Director of Programs, and works in consultation with the local Regional Leadership Council (RLC) and other Regional Coordinators as required.

The Regional Coordinator fulfills a multi-faceted role in the planning and delivery of JA programs including the recruitment, training and recognition of volunteers and marketing to regional schools. This position also plays a vital development role in the cultivation of local business contacts, donors and community partners with the goal of increasing regional sustainability.

Responsibilities:

Program Coordination:

- Market JA programs to regional schools
- Manage and track all school communications, program registrations, and data entry of classes, teachers and schools in Raiser’s Edge
- Oversee program delivery at school locations as appropriate
- Ensure quality of program delivery through follow-up evaluations with teachers, volunteers and students
- Work collaboratively with other JA program staff to share marketing, program and training materials.

Volunteer Management:

- Recruitment of volunteers in accordance with program goals and JA intake procedures
- Conduct Lunch and Learn sessions to recruit corporate volunteer teams where applicable
- Ensure adherence to JA screening policy, code of conduct and collect appropriate volunteer documentation
- Complete timely data entry of all regional volunteers into Raiser’s Edge in accordance with policy
- Coordinate and facilitate program training for all regional volunteers
- Follow up with volunteers post-delivery including completion of on-line surveys
- Coordinate volunteer recognition activities

Fund Development:

- Initiate and develop fundraising proposals with new and existing regional funding prospects
- Maintain regular communication and timely reporting with regional donors
- Ensure appropriate recognition for donors through communication with JA head office
- Identify and network with prospective donors in the region in conjunction with the Director of Programs

Marketing & Administration:

- Complete monthly submission of expenses
- Coordinate regional events with input from Director of Programs and head office
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Ensure adherence to regional budget through regular monitoring
- Participate in regional meetings and JA events as required
- Manage home office operations
- Maintain regular communication with Director, Regional Development

Required Qualifications:

- Post-secondary diploma in business administration, event planning, public relations or related field
- Experience in program coordination & volunteer management
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High degree of motivation and self-direction
- Superior organizational skills

Desired Skills & Experience:

- Aptitude and enthusiasm for educating local youth
- Past experience working within the non-profit sector
- Relationship building ability with community stakeholders
- Knowledge of local community, business & volunteer networks
- Marketing & fundraising experience an asset
- Conflict management skills

Requirements:

- Ability to work from a home office location

- A reliable vehicle is required for travel within the designated region.
