Position / Placement: Board of Trustees
The Alberta Cancer Foundation represents the interests of over 200,000 donors, raises more than $25 million annually and manages more than $150 million. It is the largest provincially-based health care foundation in Alberta and is the largest non-government investor in cancer research in the province. With over 50 staff and 300 volunteers, the Alberta Cancer Foundation is committed to ensuring all Albertans are aware of and recognize the Foundation as a strong voice for cancer research and care. The Foundation is the primary fundraiser for the new Calgary Cancer Centre, Cross Cancer Institute (Edmonton), the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (Calgary), Grande Prairie Cancer Centre, Central Alberta Cancer Centre (Red Deer), Margery E. Yuill Cancer Center (Medicine Hat) and Jack Ady Cancer Centre (Lethbridge) as well as 11 community cancer centres throughout Alberta. The Foundation receives generous support through multiple fundraising channels, including direct gifts and bequests, over 400 community fundraising events annually, and major challenge events.
