Position / Placement: House Refresher

Purpose:

  • To provide support to family services and housekeeping staff with maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of our House and Family Suites.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Linen changing and laundry
  • Dusting
  • Sweeping
  • Sanitizing
  • Window Cleaning

Time Requirements:

  • Shifts 2-4 hours in duration and days are flexible according to volunteer’s schedule
  • Volunteers will scheduled themselves in for shifts through the online Volunteer Calendar
  • 1 shift per week for a one year commitment is preferred, but we are flexible to circumstances and schedules

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Friendly, professional, flexible, responsible
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a constantly evolving environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task and comfortable seeking out staff support when needed
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous experience working in housekeeping considered an asset

Challenges of Position:

  • Requires flexibility and adaptability depending on the needs of the House
  • Due to the nature of some families stay, no one is permitted in the House while sick or have family members who have contagious illness Working in an emotionally challenging environment
  • Maintaining a professional and personal balance

Success Measures

  • Families report that they have an overall feeling of support and compassion while staying at the House

Orientation & Training:

  • First shift will include general House information, purpose and mandate of the organization and a tour
  • Ongoing training as needed
