Position / Placement: Matt Cup Memorial Cup-Western Canadian Sledge Hockey Tournament Volunteer

2019 WCSHT/Matt Cook Memorial Cup Volunteer Role Descriptions

In Arena Volunteers:

Score sheet: Record all goals and penalties in box during games. *experience in role preferred

Clock: Start and stop clock during gameplay, and keep track of goals and penalties on score clock. *experience in role preferred

Announcer/Music: Make announcements during game from box over microphone. Start and stop music in between plays. *experience in role preferred

On Ice Volunteer Coordinator: Train and manage minor officials on jobs before games throughout tournament. *must be knowledgeable in using score clock and scoresheets. *Volunteer coordinator will choose

Out of Arena Volunteers

Silent Auction/Raffle: Sell raffle tickets and man table for silent auction.

50/50 Sales: Walk through stands during games selling 50/50 tickets.

Registration/Info Table: Greet teams when they arrive, and sign them in. Answer questions about tournament for spectators coming in.

General Support: Provide support by doing odd jobs for committee or filling a role if a volunteer cancels a shift.

Team Services: Someone that teams can come to and ask with questions and concerns. In charge of keeping the players and coaches happy and comfortable. Take pictures of the teams/games/tournament that we can use on our social media accounts. *consistent person throughout tournament preferred

Merchandise Kiosk: Sell clothing and other merchandise to spectators.

Qualifications:

  • None, training will be provided on site

The annual tournament is a unique and inclusive event for participants of all abilities supporting positive community relationships. This allows sledge hockey players to take part in one of the few sledge hockey tournaments that takes place in Canada throughout the year. The weekend will bring teams from all over western Canada and foster the opportunity for learning and growth of the sport
