Position / Placement: Shelter Helper

The Mustard Seed Shelter provides emergency shelter, food and clothing for up to 45 adults experiencing homelessness every night. Shelter Helpers work together as part of a team of volunteers and staff to ensure all guests have access to day-to-day essentials.

Description of Tasks:

Assist in the different areas throughout the shelter. These include:

o Office/Hygiene/Clothing - handing out personal care items, in addition to doing laundry and handing out socks.
o Locker Area – checking in guests, opening lockers, assigning new lockers to first-time or returning guests
• Report to the Team Lead/Shelter Staff
• Support shelter team with new guest intake
• Ensure guests are greeted with smiles and love each evening and morning

Must have a heart for meeting the needs of people experiencing homelessness, an ability to enforce rules when needed (with staff assistance).
